After the Monsoon… Autumn in India!

We have moved into the fall here, and have really enjoyed being out and about during the warm late September and October. It is a small respite between endless rains and muggy summer, and the frigid winter that is to come. Being out more, means running into more animals in the wild, as they too are enjoying the sun. Whether its a pack of brown monkeys on the path to town, or a big old cow sitting next to the lake, we are constantly reminded that we are living in the rurals.

On the other hand, most of the time we are encountering these beasts is when we are heading to town to buy just about anything we’d like from the amazing stores here, or to eat at one of the many amazing restaurants that serve food ranging from authentic Korean, to not-so-authentic Mexican, to the ever present, and usually excellent, pizza. On our way home from town, we usually stop in at our go-to market, which has just about anything you could want… we’ve even found the same Thai Green Curry paste we loved in Brooklyn, and cans of Ginger Beer.

All in all, life is a constant paradox here, be it the wild animals in the yard, the wide variety of foods, or even the monks with iPhones. India is really moving towards the future, while still firmly rooted in the past, and I am glad we are here for a bit to experience it.
