A Memorable Memorial Day

First, Eliza would like to say how much she misses all of her grandparents, who just have a certain way of cuddling and caring for her that makes her feel all warm and loved inside.

Grandma and Grandpa Freitas visited for a whole week here in Park Slope, Brooklyn, walking each day from their rented cottage about sixteen blocks away to Eliza’s brownstone home. On Thursday, Aunt Becky also returned to take everyone, including Eliza, out for lunch at Song – a popular Thai food spot just a few blocks away. As it was Eliza’s first trip to a restaurant, Mommy and Daddy were a bit nervous. However, as soon they entered, they noticed about three other strollers in the lunchtime crowd, and instantly felt at home. Grandpa Freitas had a big bowl of Thai Mussels which he shared with Daddy, who will someday introduce Eliza to the joys of molluscs!

Gramma Deane returned for a second visit over this Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday, Eliza took her first trip out to Prospect Park, a place that she will be spending a lot of time in this summer. She didn’t seem to mind Daddy’s offroad stroller driving antics.

Then on Sunday, Gramma Deane invited Mommy, Daddy and Eliza over to the lovely apartment she stays at in Brooklyn Heights. Everyone decided to walk there, and Eliza was a fantastic sport, making it the entire two miles without batting an eyelash, or even beingĀ consciousĀ for that matter. From the Brooklyn Promenade, Daddy showed her the Statue of Liberty and the isle of Manhattan, reminding Eliza that she was born there not so long ago!

Finally, Eliza had her third bath, and boy did she look cute!

Oh – do I miss holding those tiny bodies…after having baby Luka here for a month, and spending a week with Eliza, we went to Texas. There I tried to cuddle with Zak & Case but at age 18 and 8, they were not interested…..so, looking forward to having the newbies here at the Freitas Homestay sometime in the fall!
