Our routine in the morning usually goes like this:
- 6am: Eliza starts to make some noise, and rustle around in her crib a bit
- 6:30am: Micaela wakes up, greets Eliza cheerily (“Goood Morrrning!”), and attempts to satisfy this growing girl’s insatiable appetite
- 7am: I (daddy nat) slowly wake-up to the sounds of a happy baby, and head to the kitchen to make coffee and breakfast for the hard working Mommy
- 7-8am: Micaela and I get ready for work while taking turns playing with Eliza, who is always a big barrel of smiley fun around this time, mostly thanks to being well rested, and well fed!
- 8am: Micaela goes to work, and I take over for an hour of quality Father-Daughter time until 9am when our nanny arrives
Now, this routine has been working well for a few weeks, and I really enjoy the hour I have with Eliza by myself in the morning. We usually make funny faces at eachother for awhile, do some dancing around, terrorize the cat for laughs, play “Don’t Get Mauled by the (stuffed) Polar Bear” and perhaps look out the window at the morning sun.
However, the last few days, just after mommy heads for work, Eliza has decided she is too pooped for daddy time, and crashes out on the bed, sucking her thumb. I suppose I don’t mind the quiet time in the morning, and as you can see from the pictures, she is extremely cute, but part of me hopes that this doesn’t become a habit. She is growing up so quick, you see! 🙂
